Editorial Policy
The standards we follow for every guide, calculator and rates table.
Independent information · Not personal tax advice
Accuracy first
Rates and thresholds come only from official sources. Guides explain the rules in our own words, with worked examples we've calculated ourselves. If we can't verify a point, we leave it out.
Reviews and updates
Calculator results identify the selected tax year. Blog posts show their publication and update dates; a content update is not an independent accuracy certification. Previous years remain available where supported. We do not display a shared review date as evidence that every page has been individually audited.
Independence
We have no relationship with HMRC, and no commercial relationship influences our content. We don't accept payment for coverage. Google AdSense advertising supports the site where ads are available; ads are separate from our editorial content and do not change calculator results.
Corrections
When we find or are told about an error, we correct it promptly and note significant corrections on the affected page.
No fake trust signals
We don't publish testimonials, ratings, user counts or expert profiles. Trust should come from checkable sources and a clear method.
What a worked example establishes
An example illustrates the stated inputs and assumptions, not every exception to a rule. Where your circumstances differ, use the relevant source and calculator limitations rather than transferring the example's conclusion unchanged.
